I initially listed my house for sale with a large franchise, locked-in with a single agent, whose sales ‘campaign’ soon turned into pressure tactics to lower my price expectations for a quick outcome. Property staging, brand marketing, agent promotion and obsession with obtaining commission took over. Realising I had made a very costly mistake, I took charge and withdrew from sale. Fortunately, Johnson RE had stayed in contact, offering advocacy so I recovered trust enough to engage Garreth Miers, the new Principal, and his team. The difference in courtesy and communication skills was immediately apparent! Honesty, support, advice and patience were ongoing during what I discovered needn’t ever be such a stressful process. Garreth and his colleagues focused on my home sale by demonstrating an excellent level of service and skill set. In a word, my experience was professional. Despite a falling market, I was encouraged to remain optimistic and the agency showed they can work hard with all parties to personably negotiate the best market price. My concern is that shrewd operators will use ‘the market’ to convince sellers to spend even more money on their up-front marketing costs - regardless of whether a sale is achieved - which don’t directly promote and sell your property.
